Police have released the name of an off-duty CSPD officer who was critically injured in a motorcycle accident Monday on Highway 50 in Saguache County.

Colorado Springs Police say the officer involved in the accident is Officer Tom Heath, a 14-year veteran with the department. As of Tuesday night, is being treated at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, listed in critical condition.

Colorado Springs police confirm with 11 News the accident happened when Heath missed a left-hand turn and went off the right side of the road, rolling the bike. A passenger on the motorcycle also suffered moderate injuries.

Both occupants of the motorcycle were wearing helmets. Police say drugs, alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
