Prosecutors say they may seek the death penalty in the case of a drifter who allegedly confessed to killing five prostitutes.
Thirty-year-old Richard White was charged today with first-degree murder in the fatal shooting of a co-worker earlier this month and Arapahoe County Judge Gerald Rafferty scheduled a preliminary hearing to start Jan. 29.
Michael Knight is a spokesman for the Arapahoe County District Attorney's office and says the charges against White could carry a penalty of death.
Knight says District Attorney Jim Peters would have at least 60 days after the preliminary hearing to make that decision.
No charges have been filed yet for the deaths of two women whose bodies White directed police to in Denver.
The search for other bodies in Otero and Costilla counties has been put on hold. A cadaver dog searched near La Junta Wednesday morning, and found nothing.
