State Patrol officers are investigating a crash that killed two people outside Westcliffe.

According to State Patrol, a driver lost control of of a Nisan Titan. The driver was on Highway 96 when he over-corrected, spun, and lost control of the vehicle. The Titan then rolled and slid on its roof, hitting a rock embankment.

State Patrol has not yet notified the next of kin, and it's not known who was driving at the time of the crash. A 47-year-old Pueblo man, and a 46-year-old Canyon City man were both fatally injured. Neither driver nor passenger were wearing a seat belt.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash, but alcohol does not.
