Since the terrorist attacks, General Ed Eberhart says the North
American Aerospace Defense Command has scrambled fighters and
diverted air patrols more than 15-hundred times.
Its jets have also helped refuel planes on more than 31,000 patrol missions.
NORAD is based inside Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs and is responsible for the air defense of both Canada and the United States. It has jet fighters on alert throughout the continent.
