Download Amnesty

If you're one of the many people who download m usic from the internet for free, you could be sued by the recording industry.

But users who promise to stop copying music will be able to avoid prosecution under an amnesty program to be unveiled next week.

Users would have to sign a notarized affidavit promising to stop using sites like Kazaa and to delete all songs they've downloaded.

Users who continue to download after signing the affidavit could face possible criminal charges.

The Recording Industry Association of America is expected to file hundreds of lawsuits starting next week.
