Denver police are investigating reports that University of Colorado students attacked Colorado State's marching band before last weekend's football game between the two schools.

Band members say CU fans threw beer bottles, cans and alcohol at them as they entered Invesco Field at Mile High. No one was seriously hurt.

The director of CU's marching band apologized to Colorado State the day of the incident. C-S-U band director Steven Moore blames the incident on too much alcohol and doesn't think the fans represent what CU believes in.

A CU spokesman says students could be suspended or expelled for alcohol offenses if police determine C-U students were involved.

CU defeated the Rams 42-to-35.
