Actor Michael J-Fox pitched in at a Denver fund-raiser today for Democrat Ed Perlmutter in his campaign against Republican Rick O'Donnell.
Former President Clinton is scheduled to appear at the even later.
Fox said in a telephone hookup from New York that Perlmutter would help to override President Bush's veto of a bill to fund embryonic stem cell research.
Fox suffers from Parkinson's, one of the diseases for which researchers say stem cells show promise.
Perlmutter spokesman Scott Chase said the fund-raiser was expected to bring in 500-thousand dollars to be split between Perlmutter and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Perlmutter and O'Donnell are battling for suburban Denver's Seventh District, seeking to replace Republican Bob Beauprez, who is giving up the seat to run for governor.
It is one of a handful of races nationally that could help determine which party controls the House.
