Air Force Secretary James Roche's nomination as Army secretary is being held up because of the sexual assault scandal at the Air Force Academy.
That's according to a spokesman for Colorado Senator Wayne Allard.
The Senate probably won't consider the nomination until an independent investigation into the scandal is completed. The panel's report is expected September 22nd.
Roche was nominated as Army secretary after Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld fired Thomas E. White in April.
Four separate investigations are looking into reports of 146 sexual assaults at the academy. Female cadets have said they were ignored or punished after making reports.
The academy's four top commanders have been replaced and policies for handling reports of sexual assaults have been changed.
