A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. (Montrose-AP) -- People who violate fire bans will now have to
pay a fine up to one-thousand dollars and spend up to a year in
The tougher penalty was included in a bill passed by state
lawmakers last week. Today Governor Owens signed it into law during
a visit to Montrose today.
The new law also increases the penalty for people who set
wildfires -- both intentionally and accidentally.
