Across the nation heart disease is the leading cause of death. In El Paso County 23 percent of people have high blood presure and elevated cholesterol levels.
These statistics are the latest numbers coming from a new report just released by the El Paso County Health Department.
The report shows Colorado falls below the national average of obesity coming in at 21% compared to 30%.
21% of people in El Paso County are smokers.
More than 34% between the ages of 18 and 25 are binge drinkers.
More people die from suicide in Colorado than from car accidents.
41% of pregnancies are unplanned.
