Colorado State Patrol brought a high speed chase to a close this afternoon, on Highway 50.
Jerry Gilley, 52, walked away from the CCA Bent County Corrections Facility.
He then allegedly stole a vehicle from a nearby car wash and led police on a high speed chase.
After local authorities were unsuccessful in stopping Gilley, they called for backup.
The Colorado State Patrol set up spike strips on eastbound Highway 50, and Gilley was apprehended before reaching the town of Lamar.
Gary Oyen of the Bent County Sheriff's Department says this is the first escape from the CCA facility in about 12 years.
Gilley now faces felony escape charges.
