University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill's battle to keep his job has been delayed by a dispute over whether the university should have to pay for his defense.
Churchill faces dismissal on allegations of research misconduct, charges he denies.
He says that a Faculty Senate rule requires the university to contribute 20-thousand dollars to help him fight dismissal.
But university Regents have said they never accepted the rule and aren't bound by it.
Churchill's attorney, David Lane, says he may file a lawsuit by next week in an effort to get the money.
