Colorado Springs Police are trying to find out who broke into a mausoleum at Evergreen Cemetery and made off with the remains of a woman who died in 1907.
Police say the theft happened sometime between Monday night and Thursday morning. According to police, the suspects may have used a sledge hammer to get into the mausoleum, then pried open a casket containing the remains of Mary Bacon.
This isn't the first time someone has damaged this private mausoleum. Police were unable to locate any surviving local relatives several years ago when there was damage done to the mausoleum.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to Crimestoppers in Colorado Springs at 634-STOP.
