Air Force Academy Reforms Continue

The director of the Air Force Academy's athletic department says he welcomes any outside review of its operations. That following word that the Air Force is probing the department as part of its effort to put an end to the school's sexual assault scandal.

Air Force Secretary James Roche says he wants to make sure the athletic department is part of developing good officers, not simply quote ``a thing in itself.''

Outgoing athletic director Colonel Randy Spetman says many athletes have told him that lessons they learned on the playing fields were an important part of their success in the Air Force. But Roche says there are too many cadets who feel like they were second-class citizens because they didn't participate in sports.
