Durango Fire Still Burns

(Durango-AP) -- Firefighters at a nearly 73-thousand-acre wildfire not far from Durango say they are hoping to raise the level of containment from 40 percent to 50 percent Monday. And some residents who were being allowed home today were told to be prepare to leave on 30 minutes notice if the blaze flares again.

Firefighters are working in rugged, steep, rocky terrain and hot, dry weather as they tried to corral the fire that has been burning for more than three weeks.

Incident Commander Wally Bennett says people are getting sick and the conditions remain very hazardous.
