The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says the Town and Country Preschool, located at 7685 Mclaughlin Road in Peyton, as well as storefronts in the area, were evacuated Thursday due to a strange odor.

All of the children and their teachers from the preschool and all employees and patrons of the nearby stores were evacuated but have been allowed back into the buildings. No one was been sickened or injured.

The El Paso County Fire Department and Colorado Springs Utilities responded to the scene. Springs Utilities says they have not determined what the odor was or if it was gas at this time.
