A Colorado Springs man is behind bars this morning, accused of pointing a handgun at a State Patrol trooper following a routine traffic stop.
Colorado Springs police say 29-year-old Tyron Lesane suffered bite wounds after a police department canine bit him early this morning as he was trying to flee the scene.
The incident started about 1:30 a.m. during the stop of a possible DUI suspect near Interstate 25 and South Circle Drive.
Authorities say the suspect ran away as the trooper was patting him down, then pulled out a handgun and pointed it toward him.
The trooper fired one shot at the fleeing man, but missed.
Lesane now faces numerous charges, including first-degree assault on a police officer.
