HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- A parole violator and former Colorado man convicted of beating and stabbing a 67-year-old Texas woman to death faces execution tonight in Huntsville.

Thirty-five-year-old Michael Rosales was living nearby with friends in the same complex as Mary Felder. He confessed to Felder's June 1997 killing one day after her grandson found her body.

Rosales told police he was high on cocaine and looking for money when he broke into her home as she slept. He says he attacked her when she awoke.

Rosales was born in Kit Carson County (Colo.), and had a record in Colorado. Trial testimony indicated he escaped from a Colorado jail in 1994 after he was arrested on charges including resisting arrest and battery.

Rosales would be the 13th inmate executed this year in Texas.
