Bryant Hearing Televised?

Court TV has asked that a camera be allowed in an Eagle courtroom during Kobe Bryant's preliminary hearing October 9th.

Attorneys for the cable network said in the court filing released Thursday that "the eyes of the nation will be focused on the
propriety of the judicial process in this case." Court TV asked for one "pool"' camera.

The Los Angeles Lakers All-Star is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old hotel worker in Edwards. Bryant has said the sex was consensual.

Many national radio and television outlets carried Wedneday's initial court appearance live. Bryant's attorneys had argued against allowing a camera in the courtroom, saying it could affect his right to a fair trial.

Bryant is free on $25,000 bond.
