Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
Colorado health officials are investigating a new virus that has sickened hundreds of people along the Front Range.
The virus causes symptoms strikingly similar to West Nile virus, including a rash. Other symptoms include headache, muscle soreness
and low-grade fever, all of which can be West Nile symptoms.
Health officials say most cases of the new virus are mild, but it can cause viral meningitis. That condition attacks spinal tissue.
Doctor Adrienne LeBailly of the Larimer County Health Department is working with state officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to identify the virus. The virus is not yet considered a public health threat.
Eight samples taken from patients were sent to the CDC this week.
