Mining Employees Arrested for Stealing Gold

Three former employees for Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mining Company are accused of stealing gold from the company.

Daniel Blake Parsons, John Hurtt and Peter Quammen were arrested this week on felony theft charges.

Prosecutors allege the two former supervisors and a process technician stole more than $1.7 million dollars in unprocessed gold over a six-year period beginning in 1999.

The three are accused of diverting a line carrying gold-saturated fluid to their own recovery filter, and of sending the fluid to California to be refined and sold.

The mining company says it has since enhanced its security.
