An initial appearance for N-B-A superstar Kobe Bryant in the Eagle County courthouse took just a few minutes Wednesday afternoon.

As part of the advisement procedures, his lawyers waived a
formal reading of the charge against the L.A. Lakers player.

The 24-year-old Bryant has been accused by a 19-year-old woman
of assaulting her at a lodge where she worked and he was staying.

Judge Frederick Gannett scheduled a preliminary hearing for one p.m. on October ninth.

Bryant was flanked by his attorneys as he stood quietly and
showed no emotion during the hearing.

Bryant has said he'd had consensual sex with the woman but is
innocent of assault.
