What will become the state's largest wind farm is now under new ownership. P-P-M Energy and Shell WindEnergy have acquired the project from G-E Wind Energy for $212 million. The wind farm is under construction in the southeastern corner of Colorado.
The project will feature 108 wind turbines near Lamar in Prowers County. It will be the fifth-largest wind farm in the country. Power generated there will be delivered to Colorado customers of Xcel Energy.
The project had faced an uncertain future after G-E acquired the wind-generation assets of now-defunct Enron Wind, a subsidiary of the Enron Corporation.
