The U.S. Forest Service has reversed an earlier decision and will now allow small advertisements on chairlifts at four Aspen ski resorts again this year. The ads promote everything from mints to massages and are placed on chairlift safety bars. They were allowed last year during a trial program.
The agency decided last month against allowing the ads to continue, and said only logos would be allowed. Aspen Skiing Company and the businessman who developed the ads protested the decision.
The supervisor for the White River National Forest reviewed the decision and decided it wouldn't be fair to end the program with so little notice. Altoids mints, for example, can now be advertised with their slogan: ``Curiously strong.''
