A task force created by Congress to investigate the handling of sexual assaults at the Air Force Academy finished its fact-finding Thursday.

The work went on behind closed doors in Washington and included
the inspectors general from the Air Force and Defense Department.

Chairwoman Tillie Fowler says she was impressed with the work
being done by those two -- because they are rechecking case facts
and re-interviewing people to make sure cases were handled
properly.

The task force was created by Congress in the wake of
allegations from female Air Force Academy cadets that senior
leaders failed to take their claims of rape and sexual assault
seriously, blamed the victims and in some cases punished the victim
for violating academy rules.
