Domestic Violence Rising

Murders by domestic partners are on the rise in Colorado. Records show the number of people killed by family members nearly doubled from 2001 to 2002.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation recorded 39 domestic murders of partners in 2002 -- up from 20 the year before. The Denver Metro Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee also shows a rise in the deaths of children and their attackers since 1997.

Records show that in most cases the attackers are men and the victims are their wives or girlfriends.
