Trees have no leaves, flowers haven't bloomed, but people are suffering from Spring allergies already. According to Dr. William Storms, an allergy specialist, trees pollinate before the leaves bloom so pollen starts flying at the end of February. "Allergies are bad because there is a lot of warm air and we're getting all of this wind blowing everything around, " Storms explains.

Jo Jo Cuchiaro has suffered from allergies since she was young. She's mostly allergic to grass, tree and weed pollens, so she suffers almost year round. "This year my allergies have been really bad. My eyes are just really itchy and my eyes are swollen all the time," Cuchiaro says.

But there is a way to predict when you might be feeling sick. An allergy forecaster, that tells you the levels of pollen and what types of trees, weeds or grasses are releasing the allergen. But Dr. Storms says, predicting how you feel may be as easy as looking at the weather. "When it's raining, or it's snowing, the trees will stop pollinating and when its warm and sunny, all of a sudden, boom they come out with an enormous amount of pollen."

But, the pollen predictors can still be helpful and can help you figure out what it is that is causing your sniffles. "If your symptoms go up when the pollen count goes up then you can be pretty sure what it is," Dr. Storms says.
