The state treasurer's office has found a new friend in the Internet auction site e-Bay.
Treasurer Mike Coffman auctioned off seven items from the
state's unclaimed property stash last week.
Some of the items went for more than ten times their estimated
A rare 1834 penny estimated to be worth 12 dollars sold for 180
An antique railroad watch valued at about 25 dollars went for
Coffman says Colorado also got a good deal from e-Bay when it
came to commissions.
The state only had to pay 2.8 percent, instead of the standard commission of about 20 percent.
Coffman estimates the treasury still has almost 200 million
dollars worth of unclaimed property.
