Many of us are enjoying the nice weather outside, but we’re not enjoying what else it brings: allergies. The season of coughing, itchy eyes and sneezing has officially begun.

"I'm allergic to all trees and grasses," said Thomas Wells as he waits to get an allergy shot.

"It affects me a bit. You know, everyday living can be difficult with the runny nose and I'm tired."

Trees start pollinating at the end of February, says Dr. William Storms with the William Storms Allergy Clinic. “We're seeing tree pollen that is moderate to high. There is pollen from Cedar, Aspen and Juniper. The farther south you go, like to Pueblo and Walsenburg, the worse it is," said the allergist.

“In the winter time when it's warm and windy, some of the pollen from the previous summer will blow into the air. That is one reason why you have allergy symptoms during the winter," said Dr. Storms.

"If you have bad allergies, pray for some snow storms."

If you're having allergies, ask your pharmacist for a good over-the-counter drug. Zyrtec is pretty popular right now. If that doesn't work, see an allergist.
