Speeding Fines

Colorado Springs is reducing its budget with higher speeding fines.

Like most cities, the Springs has lost considerable tax revenue.

Police and city officials are being criticized for using speeding tickets to make money.

They respond by saying they are taking care of the speeding problem.

Through September 30th, the city collected nearly 3 million dollars in fines.

In 2002, the city collected much less with about 1.6 million dollars in fines.
