One day after announcing that Fort Carson's Third Armored Cavalry Regiment would be coming home by this fall, now Colorado Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell says---he was wrong.
In a statement on Thursday, the Republican senator said he was mistaken, and the troops would not likely return until March or April.
Campbell says the Army told him the 3ACR would be replaced in October by members of the Second Infantry Division. But he says there will be a period of overlap for the two units, so the 3ACR would probably not be stateside until next spring.
A spokesperson for Sen. Campbell's office told 11 News, they've taken several phone calls from family members of the deployed soldiers---all upset with the conflicting information.
