Colorado WIldfires

Mesa Verde National Park in southwestern Colorado reopened on Monday for the first time in six days, even though firefighters are still battling the 2,600 acre Balcony House Complex fire.

The blaze is burning in a remote section of the park, but officials say it poses no danger. It is just ten percent contained.

A campground, shops and gas station about four miles inside the
park's main entrance will remain closed indefinitely because
firefighting operations are based there.

Meantime, a lightning-sparked wildfire has exploded from 300 to 1,500 acres about 60 miles north of Mesa Verde National Park. Three homes are being threatened, along with ten outbuildings, ranch headquarters, and a state wildlife area. The Hamilton fire is just five percent contained.
