Smoking Bans

Broomfield is the latest Colorado city to crack down on smoking in public buildings and Longmont may not be far behind.

The Broomfield City Council voted in favor of a smoking ban this week and the Longmont council passed a motion calling for council members to vote on a proposed smoking ban later this month.

Broomfield's ban takes effect April 21st and includes restaurants unless they have separate rooms for smoking.

Longmont's law still must receive final approval by city councilors after a hearing Oct. 28. If passed, it will take effect by Nov. 8.

Other Colorado communities that have completely or partly banned smoking in restaurants and bars include Boulder, Fort Collins, Louisville, Montrose, Pueblo, Aspen and Snowmass.
