Douglas County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the death of woman whose body was found about 20 miles southeast of Denver in the Surrey Ridge subdivision.

The sheriff's office says the body was found at about 2:40 this morning by a citizen. It say it's handling the death as a homicide. It appears the victim was dragged behind a vehicle. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Authorities say they believe the woman is NOT from the area because her description does not match any missing persons reports in Douglas County, and are asking for public assistance to identify the victim. She's described as a possible Caucasian, Hispanic, or Native American; 5 feet tall, 130-140 pounds; auburn color, shoulder-length hair; light color eyes (hazel or green).

If you have any information call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 303-660-7579.
