Wildfire Fears

Tri-lakes fire officials quickly put out a fire Wednesday, near Mount Herman.

The fire started from an area that had been smoldering since a lightning strike on Tuesday.

Ground and air crews quickly knocked the 1/2 acre fire down.

The fire was burning near a residential area, and the smoke was visible from I-25.

Fire officials say they received about 500 calls from worried residents.

The fire burned in the same area as a 1989 blaze, that caused many evacuations and charred 1,000 acres. No homes were lost.
