Starting Sunday, we can now check out video games at the library. The Pikes Peak Library District offers games for the Wii, XBox 360 and PlayStation.

This could be a real money-saver for lots of families, especially for Donna Darrow, a mother of an 11-year-old. “Considering how expensive these games are... I'm on a fixed income. My son now gets a chance to play them and get the same experience as kids who can afford them," said Darrow.

All you need is a library card to check-out a game and you can borrow it for a week. You’re allowed to renew it twice. The late fee is $0.25/day.

The library has all sorts of games to choose from, but has opted not to carry mature games.

While it’s a place for books, the library says video games can help kids with reading and problem solving skills. That's why one Colorado Springs father checked out a game called “Big Brain Academy” for his 6-year-old daughter. "I'm a teacher and the reason I’m here is that it's the 21st Century and video games now engage kids in learning," said Phillip Hutcherson.

Exactly what is so disappointing about "this city"? Perhaps the problem is you and not where you live. You just sound like a closed-minded curmudgeon the way you complain like that.
