The Department of Defense says a female soldier from Fort Carson has died while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier has been identified as 26-year-old Sergeant Melissa Valles of Eagle Pass, Texas.
The DOD says Valles died Wednesday in Balad, Iraq. Valles was assigned to B Company, 64th Forward Support Battalion, at Fort Carson. Authorities say Valles died as a result of non-combat injuries. The incident is under investigation. Further details haven't been released.
