Former Prison Guards Sue Private Operators

Three former guards at the Crowley County prison have sued its private operators, claiming they were coerced into having sex with managers. The suit filed yesterday in US District Court also claims sexual misconduct was rampant among employees and inmates.

One of the three female guards says a male superior came to her Pueblo home and forced her to have sex. Another female employee says a guard raped her. The suit alleges women who resisted the sexual advances were punished. The plaintiffs left their prison jobs in 2001 and 2002.

The suit names several businesses including Dominion Correctional Services that own and operate the private prison, and three current or former top officials. The lawsuit seeks unspecified financial damages.
