The U.S. Air Force Academy is now under new leadership, following a change of command ceremony at the institution.

General John W. Rosa took over as superintendent of the academy this morning. He replaces ousted Superintendent Lieutenant General John Dallagher. Rosa is the academy's 16th superintendent.

The change of command comes as an independent panel investigating sexual assault allegations prepares to hold its first hearing in Colorado. Rosa will be among witnesses called to appear before the panel
on Friday.

Dallagher and other top commanders at the academy were replaced under pressure from Congress. The moves occurred after dozens of female cadets reported they had been punished for reporting sexual assaults.
