An Army private based at Fort Carson has been killed in Iraq by an explosive device that blew up near his patrol.
The Defense Department identified the soldier as 19-year-old Nicholas A. Madaras of Wilton, Connecticut.
He was killed Sunday in Bagubah.
Madaras was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.
