A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. The Department of Defense has released the identity of the latest casualty of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The soldier, from Fort Carson's 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment is 30-year-old Staff Sergeant Andrew Pokorny. He was killed on June 13 in Al Asad, Iraq.
Pokorny was on the way back from patrol when his armored personnel carrier rolled.
