Faced with excess surcharges because of the ongoing drought, some dairies and other large food processors are installing new equipment and implementing measures to conserve water.

Conservationists warn that the higher costs incurred by drought surcharges could trickle down to consumers unless more companies
join them.

Sinton Dairy Foods here in Colorado Springs is hoping a new $8 million dollar plant will help it save one million gallons of water a month. The company hopes to save between two and three thousand dollars a
month as a result.
