The Drowsy Chaperone (Don Ward)

Virtually every piece of land in the foothills, from Colorado Springs to the Wyoming state line is up for review for possible logging to reduce fire danger over the next 10 years.
The area west of Boulder became the first spot targeted for one of the biggest forest experiments in the state's history. Foresters say that's because public opposition stopped all forest thinning in the area for about 15 years, leaving too much fuel too close to houses.
Work began there over the winter and it's focus is on removing flammable lodgepole pine and allowing a large stand of fire resistant aspen to take over the open ground. The U.S. Forest Service is also trying to create fire breaks at a nearby reservoir and neighboorhoods.
Colorado has set aside $225 million for the whole 10 year project.
