Members of a board appointed to keep watch over the Air Force Academy reportedly failed to aggressively pursue sexual misconduct at the academy for more than two decades.
New reports say members of the Board of Visitors were first told about rape allegations at the school in 1983, and that such problems repeatedly came up in subsequent years. Several longtime members of the board have begun vocally criticizing how the school has been handling the school's rape scandal, including U.S. Representative Joel Hefley of Colorado.
The new infomation came to light after reviewing 25 years worth of meeting minutes and reports issued by the board.
