Snow and rain will continue to taper from north. Main roads should stay just wet overnight and through early Thursday. Secondary roads and any bridges and overpasses away from city warmth will be icy, so be careful. Locally dense fog will be an issue for the early morning too. After nearly two weeks of ongoing repair, two lanes in each direction of Interstate 70 are open again near Vail Satuday
Spring runoff and heavy rain created a large sinkhole in the westbound lanes of I-70, just east of Vail after washing out a culvert. The sinkhole completely shut down a 24 mile stretch of I-70 for about five days.
Highway officials say it will take another two weeks to complete all repairs and open the entire highway.
Near the Eisenhower Tunnel, westbound I-70 is still closed to heavy trucks as state crews check a culvert under the highway there for erosion.
