Kobe Bryant Awaits Charges

Prosecutors say it could be days before they make a decision on whether to file charges against Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant -- who is accused of sexual misconduct.

Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert says he will treat this case like any other and he will review the police report and evidence before deciding. In a news conference Monday afternoon, Hurlbert says hopes to have a decision by the end of this week but he says it could take longer.

The 24-year-old Bryant turned himself in to authorities Friday after a woman accused him of misconduct at the upscale Lodge and Spa at Cordillera -- which is near Vail. The woman was not identified. Bryant's attorney says the All-Star guard was in Colorado for surgery on his right knee.

Bryant's Denver attorney Pamela Mackey meanwhile says the sheriff's office ignored the wishes of the district attorney in obtaining an arrest warrant for Bryant last week. She accused the sheriff's office of "complete bias." She also says Bryant is innocent.
