Three small wildfires are burning in Colorado, but firefighters are only focusing on two of them.

Fire officials say the largest of the three fires, the Yankee Gulch fire is being allowed to burn unchecked because it is not threatening anystructures. The blaze was sparked by lightening June 16th, near Meeker. Experts also say the 550 acre fire will rid the area of unnecessary, dead brush, and help regenerate the forest.

Two other fires burning in the southwestern part of the state are getting the attention of fire crews. Hotshot crews and a helicopter have been sent to the Beaver Fire, about 20 miles south of Norwood. It is burning on about one hundred acres. The other, the Santa Maria Fire is burning about 11 miles west of Creede, Colorado in the Rio Grande National Forest. So far, it's consumed about 30 acres.
