Highway worker dies after crash in construction zone

A state highway worker is dead following a crash in a construction zone near Colorado City.
A semitrailer crashed into a pickup truck and careened into people working on a repaving project on I-25 in Pueblo County.
Thirty-four-year-old Charles Mather died after being taken to the hospital in Pueblo. He leaves behind a wife who's pregnant with the couple's first child.
Another worker who jumped off a bridge to avoid the approaching vehicles suffered two broken ankles.
It's the second time in two months that a CDOT worker has been killed on the job. Rodger Bell of Mancos died in June after being electrocuted while working on a repaving project on U.S. Highway 160 in southwestern Colorado.
