Water Warning Issued

By: Associated Press

The state health department has issued a boil border for residents of the town of Manzanola, east of Pueblo. All residents and businesses are being told to boil their water because of the possibility of a contaminated water supply.

Tests indicated the presence of fecal bacteria. Officials believe a loss of water pressure recently caused the contamination, while the chlorine level in the system was too low to kill it. The bacteria can cause nausea, diarrhea, cramps and other symptoms.

The boil order will remain in effect until tests confirm the water is safe to drink.
