COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Brendalee Vargas was sentenced yesterday to three months of jail and three years of probation on a charge of felony accessory. A jury found the 39-year-old guilty in June for helping her son, 19-year-old Gerald Vargas, flee Colorado when she knew he was wanted on first-degree murder charges.

The teen is suspected in the June 2005 death of Antonio Marquez, a 24-year-old Colorado Springs man who was shot to death, and his body set ablaze along a road.

Last month, authorities found Vargas staying with a relative in Bedford, Texas. He is being held without bail at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center and is to stand trial in February.

Vargas' cousin, Ramiro, also faces first-degree murder in connection with Marquez's killing and is awaiting a November trial.

Vargas' uncle, Moses Vargas, also faces a felony accessory charge at a trial next month. He is free on 85-thousand dollars bail.
